Jazz Montjuïc 07. 3rd Jazz Contest

Jazz Montjuïc 07 is the third edition of the contest since it started in Barcelona in 2005.

The project aims at providing support and relevance to the young musicians and musical projects that are taking place in the music schools and jazz clubs, focusing on those with creative potential and the will to develop a career.

Jazz Montjuic 07 is addressed to bands and musicians without previously edited discography. The bands fitting this description have until June 1st to send their application.

The final stage of the contest will take place between July 17th and July 24th and will take place, for the first time, in the iconic Jamboree Club of Barcelona.

The award for the contest’s winner is the recording and editing of their project in a professional studio. Simultaneously (and out of the contest), the four finalists will have a concert programmed for them in Sala Montjuic 2007, every Wednesday of July.

The closing session of Jazz Montjuic 07 will take place on August 1st at Sala Montjuic, with a special event that will include a Jam Session with some of the best musicians in town.

Organizations such as Urbaanjazz (www.urbaanjazz.com/), Barcelona Jazz Radio (www.barcelonajazzradio.com ), Mas i Mas (www.masimas.com ), and the Institut de Cultura de Barcelona collaborate with the present edition of the contest.
